31 Days to an Organized Home: Trunk or Treat!

In Uncategorized

Clutter Free Car
Your car is often an extension of your home especially if you spend most of your day driving or are in and out of your car.  This was me before I had LM.  I drove from one school to the next teaching dance classes and I spent a large portion of my day in the car.  Like all spaces that you spend time in, it needs to stay organized.
Now that I have my little one, the majority of the trunk in filled up by the stroller.  This means I have to make the most of the little space that is left.
A great way to make extra space is storage bins.  We had a couple left over from the closets so I stuck them in the car.

Stuck some velcro to minimize sliding.

and now I have less clutter!
This was the inexpensive (FREE) way to do it.  However, when I get the chance, I want this!!!!
How do you keep your car clutter free?

31 Days to an Organized Home: Get on a Cleaning Schedule

In Uncategorized

Cleaning Schedule

I was so reluctant to put one of these up in our house because it would mean being accountable.  UGH… But as I browsed Pinterest I kept seeing about 500,000 cleaning schedule pins.  I got the hint so I put on my big girl panties and did it.   I found the one that I thought worked the best for me, adjusted it to fit our household needs, and put it up!
Place it in a frame and it works just like a dry erase board.  If you have extra helping hands in your house, place it next to a chore chart!

I feel like the house is cleaner and I’m less stressed!  *NODrama y’all!*  Also, I think it helps my husband that I’m less stressed.
You’ll notice that it hasn’t quite been checked off as much as it should be but I made a good start.  We had a very busy week and I wasn’t home as much as I usually am but I’m feeling good about next week!
Here are a few schedules I found.  Print out the one that works for you!

Get control of those soup cans!  Just make sure it’s wide enough!

Store pot and pan lids.  This frees up so much space!  I know whenever I reach into the cabinet, I’m met with clanging from all the pots and pans and lids and just about everything else!
via
Free up drawer space and store your hair styling tools.  This also makes your cabinets even more useful!

This has to be one of my favorites!  Stick a few under a shelf and you have mail slots!

Unclutter those drawers!
After seeing all of these (on Pinterest, of course!) I went looking for a few.  But in true NODrama fashion, I thought I would DIY instead!  These can be made of old cardboard mailers, cereal boxes, etc.  I’m going with cereal.

31 Days to an Organized Home: Kitchen Command Center UPDATE

In Uncategorized

Kitchen Command Center and Grocery List Freebie

I few weeks back I shared my Kitchen Command Center.  Since then, I have pretty much done nothing with it.  I should have taken my own advice and made it work for me.  Now it’s DEFINITELY working for me!
I took away the chalkboard.  I still love it, but it just wasn’t functional.  I added a cleaning schedule (even though I didn’t want to) and a grocery list.  I love this grocery list, it’s so classy! AND FREE!
DOWNLOAD HERE
Thanks to ellinee journal for making this freebie.  Also, the link goes to the post tutorial to make your own pad.  I just “MacGyvered” a clipboard.
I recently used this list and I loved it!  Nicely organized by section with extra lines for uncommon items and a fun little reminder at the bottom.
ENJOY!

31 Days to an Organized Home: Personalized Planner

In Uncategorized

Organizing Your Time

I have to hardest time remembering my ideas, post plans, events….the list could go on and on.  I used to have (if I do say so myself) an incredible memory.  Now I have Mommy Brain so I have to write things down more often.  However, like everything else, planners can cost a pretty penny.  Also, many planners have too many “extras” for me.  Month pages followed by weekly pages followed by notes and on and on and on.  I even had a planner that had a periodic table in it.  I assume it was for a student, but still!

All I really needed was a few lines to write for each day to help me plan for the blog.  I’ll admit it, there are some days that I find myself scrounging for post topics.  This planner has been a huge help.  I don’t feel as lost as I used to!

31 Days to an Organized Home: PINspired Organization

Lost Socks & Laundry Organization

You guessed it!  This little ditty is from Pinterest.  I thought it was so cute and practical.  Not to mention, it’s super easy to make!
All you need is a piece of wood, clothespins, and some glue!

I was so inspired by it that I did another one, with a twist.  I use mesh bags to sort the items that can’t go in the wash with everything else.

They used to look like this.

The clothespins were constantly falling down and so were the bags.

How do you solve the lost sock problem?

Thrifty Thursday: Recycled Storage

I love the look of uniform storage.

It’s SOOOOO PRETTY!!!!
But it can get quite expensive…
However, there are a lot of food products out there that come in fabulous looking containers.  Just wash them out and put them to good use!
Here are some food containers that are getting a new life in our home as storage!

These are my favorite.  They have a handle and everything! Not to mention, the previous content is delicious! Peanut butter filled pretzels…mmmmm! (I have to give thanks to my dad for this one!  He started using these and was nice enough to part with a few for us.  Thanks Daddy!)
I even bought a little one since I thought it was so cute!  It holds LM’s puffs now.

It’s easy on the eyes and the wallet!
