I’m so excited to finally get to share these pointers with you. I had this post planned months ago but then my nails became a disaster. I’ll get to that in a bit, but I ended up needing to put my tips into practice again. It was really helpful to go through rebuilding my nail health so truly test out my tips. I’m happy to report that THEY WORK!
- As with all “tips and tricks” on Pinterest, I was skeptical about this one. The captions always say something like, “The Perfect Solution!” or “Works Every Time!” Yeah right….I have to say that I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I tried this one! What You’ll Need:Vaseline (or greasy lotion)Q-TipCuticle Stick1. Rub the vaseline on the skin around the nail. I used the q-tip for this.
2. Paint your nails and after they dry, wipe away any excess polish and you’re done! This is no joke! The only thing I changed was using vaseline. I think this ended up working even better since the polish, for the most part, barely even touched wear I put the vaseline and if it did, it wiped right off. Plus, when you’re done, any extra left on your fingers is good for the cuticles!
Don’t have a cuticle stick?
Don’t worry, I mainly used my other fingernails to get around the edges. I’ll definitely be pulling this trick out every time I paint my nails!Have a Pinterest project or trick you’d like to see me try? Let me know!
- It’s been quite the morning…Frosting cupcakes, cranky baby, Pinterest! But now the cupcakes are on their way to the bake sale (Thanks, Hubster!), LM is napping, and…well, I realized this morning that I hadn’t really done anything from Pinterest this week! I know, what happened? Well, as my friend, Simple Mum, and I say…”that parenting thing” happened. But at the same time….just because I didn’t try a DIY doesn’t mean I didn’t do anything from Pinterest. Hello! There’s food and beauty and, well you know…EVERYTHING! So today I’m going to share some nail art I tried.Every time I open Pinterest, there are tons of nail art photos. They’re so pretty but they look awfully difficult. Recently I saw one that I thought I could tackle. I have to say that I’m pretty pleased with the outcome!
Aren’t her nails gorgeous?!
It’s seriously as easy as it looks. It may not look exactly like the pic but it was my first try…I’m happy! My best tip would be that less is more. Put as little polish on the brush at first when you go to do the scallops. You can always add another coat.Give it a try!Happy Friday!
- SO….I entered a few swaps recently. All with completely different send and post dates. Somehow, due to delays in the mail, the linkups all ended up on the same day!Crazy! So I’ll just start with the first one I received! All Laquered Up Polish SwapI don’t really have a lot of nail polish and tend to stick with the same colors year round. I wanted to branch out so I signed up for 2 polish swaps. For this first one, hosted by Megan from Shine On and Angela from Hairspray and Highheels, I was paired with Katie over at Katers Potaters. Now when I got the package I kind of panicked….But as I opened it and soaked the bottles in polish remover, I realized it was like opening another whole package!I love the colors…nothing like I already had. Plus a cute nail file/tweezer set! Thanks Katie!Spread The PolishThis one was hosted by Carly from Lipgloss and Crayons and Rachel from LaLa Lists. Ms. Heather over at Gurlee Girrl was my lovely swapper! I hope she loved her neons! This is what I got!LOVE!
Please notice that the card matches…Heather, you are fabulous! The Essie is seriously my new favorite! Thanks Heather! The Mug SwapThis was a secret swap. These are SO MUCH FUN!It is no secret that I LOVE coffee. I need it, crave it, etc! So I’ve been looking for a mug swap for awhile and this one found me!I sent a mug to The Thriftiness Miss…..you can see it HERE.Mine was from the lovely Amber from One Life to Live! She sent me this GORGEOUS gem!Hello! LOVE IT!Thanks Amber!Side note: I love how my swappers totally get me!And last but not least…The Postcard SwapOur two fearless leaders? Hayley from Hayley’s World (you may remember that she was the lady I sent my Jewelry Swap to!) and Kim from Pink, Pearls, and Polka Dots.My swapper was Kendra from Kendra Kay. All the way from CALIFORNIA! This was a coast to coast swap! She’s from southern Cali and while looking through her pics on her blog, it seems like a crazy fun place! Since I couldn’t find a single place that sold postcards, I ordered and sent her a really pretty (at least I think it’s purdy!) vintage Atlanta card. Here’s what she sent me!Thanks Kendra!Okay…That’s it! All of them in one day! Are you tired? I am! These were fun but I think I’m gonna take a small break from swapping. (That is unless there’s a really awesome one that I can’t pass up!)You can find all the link ups on the hosts’s pages!
