Putting Together the Perfect Gender Neutral Baby Basket

*Some items in this gift basket were given to me for review/feature.*

What do you get your best friend that is pregnant her third baby, is not finding out the gender, and already has a boy and a girl? I don’t know how people do it, waiting until birth to find out if they’re having a boy or a girl. I’m a planner to the core and while I love how far we’ve come with gender neutral baby gear (i.e. everything isn’t just yellow and green anymore), I am still a person who wants to know. I applaud anyone who can do it and has done it, my best friend, Katy, now included. But what can I get her?! I can’t personalize anything and she already has two children, one of each gender, so she has so much saved up. My solution, ESSENTIALS!

There are certain things that you can’t save from each child, like teethers and other highly used items. There’s also those necessary things called diapers. I don’t think I’ve ever met a mama who said, “You know what? We have plenty of diapers and don’t need anymore.” So here’s what I went with for my bestie’s basket.

MAM Teether – Katy’s first two kiddos didn’t like pacifiers and weren’t thumb suckers so I knew that soothers of that nature would be out.  Plus, you never know if a parent is totally against them.  (She’s not but some people are and that’s ok.)  But all babies teethe and this Lucy the snail teether from MAM is great for those first buds and even before that. MAM combines technological innovation, medical function and contemporary design to develop superior baby care products that support a baby’s development from day one.  To find out more and view MAM’s baby care range of award-winning pacifiers, bottles, cups, teethers, oral care items, coordinating accessories and gift sets visit

Covered Goods 4-in-1 Cover – This chick is a master at breast feeding!  I so admire her for her dedication and even envied how easy it has been for her.  If you’ve been around for my journey through all of that with Ro, you know I have a personal love hate relationship with the process.  You can read more about that HERE and HERE.  I had a very hard time with both my boys.  Anyway, I had to get my bestie something special for herself and these covered goods are so versatile and useful.  They have a fabulous selection of prints and I picked one that I new she would rock. Covered Goods nursing covers allow for mom and baby to nurse comfortably.  The high quality covers are made from an ultra-comfy breathable lightweight and stretchy fabric.  There are no straps, rings, or cords to mess with.  The covers take seconds to put on and take off, and alleviate any worry that baby will kick or pull mom’ s cover off.  An added benefit of the flexible neck allows mom to peek in on baby or to make sure her little one has latched properly.  Covered Goods covers are available online at and at specialty boutiques and stores across North America.

Babo Botanicals Sensitive Baby Healing Ointment – Katy is a huge skincare advocate so I knew specially formulated baby products would be a good fit for her basket. “All Babo Products are made with a combination of pure plant actives, naturally derived, certified organic and all-natural ingredients.”*  They are also thoroughly tested by independent clinical laboratories ensuring that they are hypoallergenic, allergy tested and non-irritating.

ergoPouch Cocoon Swaddle and Sleep Bag – One of my favorite things from when Ro was an infant, was sleep sacks and swaddles.  This sleeping cocoon is perfect for keeping baby warm and feeling safe.  ergoPouch products offer great functionality and versatility with swaddles that can easily transition to a sleeping bag and sleep suits that convert from bags to suits with legs for easy use from bassinet to stroller.  They have a wide array of styles and prints to choose from for every stage. For more information visit

Muslin Blanket – The muslin blanket I chose is from Little Lane Market.  Its soft bamboo material is perfect for baby cuddles and the print was a huge hit with my llama-loving bestie.  All of the prints from Little Lane Market are adorable and most are perfect for a gender neutral gift basket.

Decor Sign – This decor sign was a little extra something I saw at Hobby Lobby and thought, “Yeah, that’s coming with me!”  It was met with a big laugh and Katy loved it.

DIAPERS – Because, you know, poop happens…

I fully plan on doing all the personalized things as soon as this little nugget pops out but I suppose I’ll just have to wait. I can’t wait to love on this little one in October!
