Last night I gave a bath, helped with a devotional, read a book and sang songs to a three year old. Last night watched an almost four year old brush his teeth, pick out his jammies, and say his prayers.
This morning I woke up to a four year old where my three year old slept the night before. I remember the moment they placed you in my arms as if it were yesterday but at the same time it seems so far away. You are tenacious, smart, strong willed, independent, and imaginative. You amaze me every day with what you say, what you do, and who you are. I love our conversations, how you talk a mile a minute after school, and when you tell me all about your dreams in the morning. I love playing Ninja Turtles with you and all of the guessing games you make up. I also love your knock knock jokes, especially when the punchline is always the same. (It’s the interrupting cow joke but sometimes he’ll sub out cow for tree or some other object. More often than not, the object always interjects with “Moo!”) I love your big, bright, handsome smile when you see me pull up in car line at school and when I tell you you can have an extra treat after dinner. I love watching you grow into the most amazing big brother Roman could ever hope for and I knew you could be. You are sweet and strong and growing into the most amazing little boy. You’re not a toddler anymore, you’re a kid!
Happy fourth birthday, Gavin! (aka Gav, Mr. G, Bug, Gav-a-lav)
I love more than all the stars in the sky!
